Subway Sketching Japan 2016 - Artbook

Foreword:

This collection of well-crafted sketches by Robbie Allen offers a fascinating blend of illustrations and observations on subway users in Japan. In this, his first digital art book, he presents a personal perspective on their lives and explores what might lie behind the moment he has captured them in. By giving them voices he adds a deeper dimension to the purely visual and invites us to consider aspects of their lifestyle that might reflect our own in a world increasingly dominated by technology. This is a work that is to be savoured visually and pensively along with a pot of finely brewed Japanese tea!

Description:

This is my first artbook, a collection of my Japanese brush pen sketches that I created whilst travelling around Japan on the subways and trains during my latest trip in 2016.

The pages in the book also encourage conscious awareness, contemplation, reflection, taking action, appreciation and inspiration through the imagined thoughts of the character on each page, sometimes in the form of my own poetry.

All of the commentary in the book is from my own imagination. I tried to bring an interesting and thought provoking message across to the reader, in my own creative way.

I also share some insight and personal experiences from my trips to Japan.

I hope you enjoy my first book!

Arigatou gozaimasu,

Thank you very much for your support!
